Full Engagements

For owners who want the complete picture, a plan built with their team, or the hands-on work done for them. Each is a set fee, agreed in writing before work starts.

Our method is built on the Exit Planning Institute's Value Acceleration Methodology™.

Enterprise Value Assessment

The full picture, in dollars.

An independent assessment of your business, your personal readiness, and your finances, tied to what your business is worth.

What you get

  • Your real numbers. Your financial statements recast to show what the business actually earns, compared with what your tax return shows.
  • What your business is worth. The range of value for a business like yours, and where yours sits in it today.
  • A full assessment of how attractive and how ready your business is, built from interviews with you and your key people, covering the business, your personal readiness, and your financial readiness.
  • A look at the four things buyers really pay for: your people, your systems, your customers, and your reputation and relationships.
  • Three gaps, each in dollars: how much more you could earn if the business ran like the best in your industry (your "profit gap"); how much more the business could be worth at that level (your "value gap"); and what you need from a sale compared with what you have today (your "wealth gap").
  • Written reports on your business's value, its attractiveness and readiness, and the three gaps, plus the recast of your financials.
  • A workshop with you and your key people to present the results and set your first 90 days of actions: no more than five for the business and five for you personally.

What it does not include: your full step-by-step plan (that's built in your first Value Acceleration Sprint), hands-on work in your business, a certified appraisal, or a personal financial plan or investment advice.

If you had an Exit Baseline in the past 180 days, its $1,500 is credited toward the Assessment.

Value Acceleration Sprint

Build the plan with your team, then carry it out, 90 days at a time.

Mark leads it with you and your team, keeps everyone accountable, and coordinates your outside advisors.

1. Prioritize 2. Execute 3. Measure 4. Recalibrate Every 90 days

Your first 90 days build your plan.

In workshops with you and your key people, you build:

  • your vision for the business and for yourself;
  • your goals for the coming years and the next 12 months;
  • every action that needs to happen, sorted so that protecting what you have comes before growing it;
  • the most important actions for the next 90 days, no more than five for the business and five for you personally, each with a person responsible, checkpoints, and a clear finished result;
  • how you'll measure progress, and how often your team meets.

Every 90 days after that carries it out:

  • Two workshops a month with your team: a mid-month progress workshop and a monthly milestone review.
  • A monthly one-on-one with Mark.
  • Your team's own short weekly progress check. Mark sets it up; your team runs it.
  • Coordination of your outside advisors, such as your accountant, attorney, and financial advisor, so the personal side of the plan moves alongside the business side.
  • A renewal workshop every 90 days: a report on the cycle, your business re-scored, and the next 90 days set.
  • One question every 90 days: do you want to keep growing, or start preparing to exit?

What you need to start: a completed Enterprise Value Assessment.

What it does not include: Mark building the deliverables himself (that's Systems Implementation), or managing your employees. Your people stay yours. Mark holds them to what they committed to and brings anything unresolved to you.

Systems Implementation

Dont Shut Down doing the hands-on work in your business. Alongside any other service, or on its own.

Two kinds of work

  • Writing down how your business runs: procedures, process maps, and checklists. Your people already know the work. We give them a simple way to capture it, then turn it into finished documents anyone could follow.
  • Setting up systems: accounting, customer management, scheduling, and similar. We set the system up to fit how you work, move your existing information in, train your people, switch over with a fallback in place, and support you while everyone settles in.

How it works

  1. A free written proposal that spells out exactly what will be built, what's not included, the schedule, and the price.
  2. One fixed price, set before work starts. Any change goes through a written change order that we both sign first.
  3. You approve each piece before it counts as done.

Who owns what: once you've paid in full, everything built for your business is yours.

Talk it through

Most owners start with the Exit Baseline. If you already know you want one of these, call (312) 815-7999 or Ask about a full engagement.
